
St. Thomas The Apostle Matriculation School is run by the Tuticorin Diocesan Association (Registered), an organization of the Catholic Diocese of Tuticorin. The Bishop, the Most Reverend Dr. A. Stephen, who is the President of the Association, is also the Patron and Manager of the School.
Education being one of the vital instruments for social change, the diocese runs many educational institutions. Through them it strives to foster the noble ideals of education such as Access, Equity and Quality and to ensure them to people from all walks of life. St. Thomas the Apostle Matriculation School is one of the newest and self-supported schools. This institution is yet another initiative of the diocese to take quality secondary education to the door steps of the people, who aspire for a secure future for their children.
The motto of the school is “Arise and Shine”, taken from the book of Prophet Isaiah (60:1) of the Holy Bible. Accordingly, the students will be endowed with fine human values and empowered to contribute significantly to the progress of the nation and the well being of the fellow citizens and to be the “light of the world”. (Mt 5:14)
Aims:
St. Thomas The Apostle Matriculation School aims to be an outstanding institution where children enjoy learning, achieve highly and enter into the adult world with necessary competencies and confidence. We aim to create an environment that encourages every pupil to imbibe values of pluralism, democracy, secularism and inclusivity
The school endeavours to promote the positive ethos and learning culture among the members of the school community with the commitment to improve and enhance continually their academic and social standards.
The School seeks and encourages sound and sustained participation from the parents, the local community and other relevant stakeholders in serving its ideals
The School creates ample opportunities for the pupils to discover their latent talents, and enhance their self-esteem.

Growth of the School :
The school was started in 2016 with classes from Kinder Garden to Std. VI and 408 students. The next year Std VII and VIII were introduced and the student strength got increased to 1303. In the following years, Std IX (2018) and Std X (2019) were added and at the end of the May 2019, the number of students on roll rose to 1979. The first batch of Std X passed out in May 2020.
